Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 12th May, 2025
This privacy policy explains how the Better Web Chrome Extensions ("Extension", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information.
1. Information We Collect
- User Input: When you type a prompt into the extension, that prompt is sent to our backend or LLM API to generate results. We do not store or log these prompts unless explicitly required for diagnostics (with user consent).
- Preferences: We may store settings such as dark mode, API key, or recent prompts locally on your device using Chrome's storage APIs.
- Authentication Data: The extension uses login and a subscription service. Your token or user email may be stored locally on your device temporarily to validate access.
2. How We Use Information
- Process your input and generate optimized results.
- Authenticate you.
- Save local user preferences for a better experience.
We do not:
- Sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties.
- Track your browsing or behavior outside the extension.
3. Data Sharing
We do not share your data with any third-party services, advertisers, or analytics platforms. Only our own secure backend (and the LLM provider, like OpenAI) processes the data.
4. Remote Servers
The extension communicates with our backend server to:
- Process prompts via an LLM.
- Authenticate users and verify subscriptions.
All communication is done securely over HTTPS.
5. Data Storage and Retention
- Prompts and queries are not stored on our servers.
- Local settings (like themes, user email, API keys) are stored only on your device.
6. User Control & Consent
- You can clear all local data stored by the extension at any time.
- You can revoke access by logging out or contacting support.
7. Changes to this Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are made, we will notify users through the extension or an update note.
